Housing for All by 2024: The core vision is to ensure that every urban household, particularly the economically weaker sections, has access to affordable, quality housing by the year 2024.

Sustainable and Inclusive Development: The scheme emphasizes creating houses that are environmentally sustainable and accessible, ensuring inclusive growth in cities.

Use of Modern Technologies: The government promotes the use of eco-friendly and efficient construction technologies to build homes quickly while maintaining quality.

Focus on Women: Under PMAY, priority is given to women applicants, and ownership of the house is often mandated to be in the name of the woman of the household, promoting gender empowerment.

The scheme was expected to be implemented in three phases and cover all urban areas by the end of 2024.
